Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how PickVerify ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses and protects your personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR — Regulation EU 2016/679) and applicable national data protection laws.
1. Data Controller
PickVerify is the data controller responsible for your personal data. You can contact us at info@pickverify.com for any privacy-related requests.
2. Data We Collect
We collect the following categories of personal data:
- Account data: email address, username, password (stored as a bcrypt hash — we never store your plain password).
- Profile data: display name, biography, and sport preferences if you choose to provide them.
- Pick data (tipsters only): submitted picks, odds, stakes and results.
- Payment data: subscription plan, amount and billing dates. Card details are processed directly by our payment provider and never stored by PickVerify.
3. Legal Basis for Processing
We process your data under the following legal bases:
- Contract performance: to provide the services you have registered for.
- Legitimate interest: to prevent fraud, maintain platform security and improve the service.
- Consent: for analytics and marketing cookies, where you have given explicit consent.
- Legal obligation: where required by applicable law.
4. How We Use Your Data
We use your data to: create and manage your account; display your public tipster profile and audited pick history; process subscription payments; send transactional emails (account confirmation, billing receipts); detect and prevent fraud and abuse; and improve the Platform.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we erase your personal data immediately, except where retention is required by law (e.g. financial records, which may be retained for up to 7 years).
6. Your Rights Under GDPR
As a data subject in the EU/EEA, you have the following rights:
- Access: request a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Rectification: correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Erasure ("right to be forgotten"): request deletion of your data, subject to legal retention obligations.
- Portability: receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Restriction: ask us to pause processing of your data in certain circumstances.
- Objection: object to processing based on legitimate interest.
- Withdraw consent: withdraw any consent given at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@pickverify.com. We will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.
7. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies. Essential cookies are necessary for the Platform to function and are set without consent. Analytics and preference cookies are only set with your explicit consent. See our Cookie Policy for full details.
8. Security
We apply industry-standard security measures including TLS encryption in transit, bcrypt password hashing, and httpOnly session cookies. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security but we take all reasonable steps to protect your data.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by a prominent notice on the Platform. The date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised.
